CISF is in-charge of Port Security of Paradip Port. It ensures smooth and secure access control through 5 Entry/ Exit Gates. It performs harbour patrolling, ensures, security of SPMs, perimeter security and fire prevention. Access control through gates is now totally integrated with RFID system which has enhanced not just security infrastructure but ensured smooth movement through gates. All entrance gates to the Port, the Port premises, Seaside (South break water) are being monitored by CISF armed guards and CCTV surveillance. A 24x7 CCTV control room surveillance is being monitored by CISF at Gate # 4.
Trained 25 marine Commando of CISF squad, are carried out guarding of Ports harbour area up to anchorage area and keeps the channels clear by speed patrol launches to keep close vigil on all incoming vessels to harbour and prevent any attempt of sabotage, criminal activity, terrorism, stowaway & finishing etc. Single point mooring (SPM) is guarded by CISF trained marine commandos round the clock staying on board all weather Security Vessel.
Beside, CISF has a highly specialized, trained and dully equipped Fire wing, which provides Fire safety in and around the Port. There are two Fire stations viz. main fair station located near Gate # 4 and Sub-fire station located near North oil jetty to tackle any fire related emergencies. Equipped with total 07 nos fire tender over the year, it has saved property worth Crores of rupees of properties and saved precious lives too. And in this year alone, it saved property worth 33 crores approx. and attended 28 fire calls including 10 fire calls outside the Port premises.
CISF also conducts monthly security and fire mock drills to train and prepare for facing any emergencies. Further, it also takes various mock drill with collaboration with NDRF and other mutual Aid partners and also participation in ‘Sagar Kavach”, a joint mock drill on coastal security organized by sister agencies like Coast Guard, Marine police etc. CISF has continuously endeavoured to integrated technology to ensure fool proof security measures and reduce any human error.
