Paradip Port Authority Strengthens Port Security with Advanced Radiological Detection Equipment at New Gate #1.

Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has further strengthened its port security and safety infrastructure with the inauguration of newly installed Radiological Detection Equipment (RDE) at New Gate #1.
The RDE system was inaugurated by Shri T. Venugopal, Deputy Chairperson, Paradip Port Authority, in the presence of Shri G. Dhananjaya, AGM & Head (RID), Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), and Shri Susil Chandra Nahak, Chief Mechanical Engineer, Paradip Port Authority, along with Heads of Departments (HODs) of Paradip Port Authority and senior officials of ECIL.
The project, valued at over ₹21.32 crore, includes the supply, installation and commissioning of the radiological detection systems, along with a comprehensive 10-year Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract (CAMC). The project has been executed in collaboration with Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), a Government of India enterprise under the Department of Atomic Energy.

Enhanced Port Security:
The deployment of advanced radiological detection technology will strengthen PPA’s capability to detect and prevent the illicit movement of nuclear or radioactive materials through the port, further enhancing security and safety at the port gateway.
The project includes a 12-month warranty, followed by a 10-year Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract (CAMC) with ECIL. The arrangement will support reliable system availability through regular preventive maintenance, technical support and timely response to operational requirements.
The commissioning of the advanced RDE system marks a significant step in Paradip Port Authority’s continued efforts to modernize its security infrastructure and adopt advanced technologies for safer and more secure port operations.
The initiative reinforces PPA’s commitment to developing Paradip Port as a smart, secure and technologically advanced maritime hub, while contributing to the broader objective of strengthening safety and security across India’s critical port infrastructure.
